A man was arrested in a theft with help from Atlantic City's new surveillance center.
Patrol officers responded to the Knife and Fork Inn at about 10:20 a.m. Monday after a man came in the back door of the restaurant on the 3600 block of Atlantic Avenue while it was closed and took an employee's handbag, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
A witness gave officers a description of the suspect, and which way he fled. Officer Autumn Mason found Neil Rivera, who matched the description, in the area of Boston and Pacific avenues, but he did not have the handbag.
Officers monitoring the call in the Police Department's new surveillance center were able to track Rivera's movements, and saw him place the bag in a trashcan around Hartford and Pacific avenues, Fair said.
Rivera, 36, was charged with burglary and theft and released on a summons.
