Motel fight leads to arrests, drugs and gun

  • News

A fight at an Atlantic City motel led police to a handgun and drugs.
Sgt. Daniel Corcoran and Anthony Casale responded to the Knights Inn on Albany Avenue just before 9 a.m., and were told there was a fight in the motel's hallway.
Sean Lowney and Badia Watts, who were renting a room at the motel, were fighting with a woman in the hallway, according to the report.
Lowney tried to run from the scene, and began threatening the officers, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.
An investigation by Corcoran and Sgt. Andrew Leonard and Detective Joseph Corson searched the pair's room and found 91 bags of heroin, 76 grams of marijuana, a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia, Fair said.
Lowney, 25, of Atlantic City, and Watts, 19, of Philadelphia, were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, along with two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, and possession within 500 feet of a public zone. They were also charged with possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lowney was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted person. His previous convictions include assault, drug and weapons offenses, court records show.
The pair were taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
