Ex-Atlantic City employee admits to stealing All Wars rent

  • News
The former building coordinator for Atlantic City's All Wars Memorial Building admitted to stealing money paid to rent our meeting rooms. William Hadley
, 56, of Egg Harbor Township, was charged with official misconduct and five counts of theft by failure to make required deposit of property received in August. He was then suspended without pay. He admitted Wednesday that he accepted money orders from five citizens who were renting meeting rooms at the building on Adriatic Avenue known to many as the Old Soldier's Home. But instead of giving the money to the city, he deposited it into his personal bank account. Hadley, who had not yet been indicted, pleaded guilty to the accusation of one of the theft counts. He has agreed to pay $3,350 in restitution and will forfeit public employment under the plea agreement. Hadley is set to be sentenced May 19.
