Atlantic City police seize more than 6,000 bags of heroin

  • News
Atlantic City police seized thousands of dollars in heroin Wednesday, after a drug arrest led to the search of a home. Sgt. Richard Andrews saw a drug sale between two men in the area of South Carolina Avenue and Bacharach Boulevard just before 3 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Andrews quickly arrested the alleged buyer, Quran Stokelin, 23, of Atlantic City, after he was found with a bag of heroin. The sergeant put out a description of the alleged seller. Detective Lonell Jones, and Officers Nicholas Berardis and Chris Smith found Darryl Tyler in the area of North Carolina and Atlantic avenues, Fair said. Tyler tried to run, but was caught and found with 34 bags of heroin. Clarice Dallas, who was with him, was arrested after she was found with marijuana. An investigation by Andrews and the Vice Unit led to a search of Tyler's residence on the 1500 block of Magellan Avenue, where police found 6,325 bags of heroin, more than an ounce of raw heroin that hadn't been packaged yet and $8,000 in cash believed to be from the sale of heroin. Stokelin and Dallas, 33, were charged with drug possession and released on summonses. Tyler, 49, was charged with possession, possession with intent to distribute, possession within 500 feet of a public zone and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
