An Egg Harbor Township man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Friday in a 2013 home invasion of a 92-year-old man who was stabbed in the attack.
Charles Sweetman was found stabbed inside his home in the Tower East Mobile Home Park just before 9 a.m. Dec. 17, 2013. The suspect left in Sweetman's car.
His neighbor Robert Bilhardt was later arrested and charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, armed burglary, burglary while attempting to cause bodily injury, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, motor vehicle theft, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Bilhardt, now 29,
pleaded guilty to all 10 counts in March, under a plea agreement that left the sentence at the judge's discretion.
On Friday, Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury sentenced him to 20 years in prison with 17 years of parole ineligibility.
