Woman dies from injuries days after Hamilton Township crash

A Mays Landing woman injured in a one-car crash last week has died of her injuries. and child were injured in a one-car crash on Old Egg Harbor Road on Friday morning. Laura Day, 34, was traveling south May 5 on Old Egg Harbor Road, when she lost control after passing another car just after 10 a.m., Hamilton Township police said. The car then went off the road into the southbound shoulder, striking a utility pole, police said. Day was trapped in the car and was seriously injured. She was rescued and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. A 3-year-old in the car suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was also taken to the hospital, police said. Both were properly secured at the time of the crash. Traffic was diverted around the scene for about an hour and a half. Day died of her injuries Wednesday, police said. The crash is being investigated by Officer Jim Jacobi and Detective Mike Robison.
