An Atlantic City man accused of
sending sexual images to children in eight states was sentenced to 12 years in prison Friday, under a plea agreement.
Sherman Miller, now 50, was already a convicted sex offender when he was arrested last year for sending sexually explicit images of himself from Atlantic City to a juvenile victim in Texas.
After his arrest Feb. 4, 2016, further investigation found that Miller had sent children ranging from 9 to 12 years old pictures of his penis and videos of him gratifying himself.
The victims were in seven states: Michigan, Georgia, Massachusetts, California, Missouri, Mississippi and South Carolina.ying himself.
He even convinced one of the children to send him video back.
"While social media certainly has its advantages, this case illustrates the dangers lurking behind the screen and reminds us that predators can easily utilize this technology to victimize innocent children," said Assistant Prosecutor Daniel Buckley, who prosecuted the case.
Miller must serve at least 10 years, two months and 12 days of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
