Two injured in crash near high school

  • News
A man has been charged with drunken-driving after he crashed his vehicle near Atlantic City High School, and then left the scene with his passenger. Officers were called to Route 40 westbound for an overturned vehicle, and found the car had left the roadway, and struck a utility pole, breaking it in half, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. There was no one inside the vehicle, which was overturned. A search of the area found no one, Fair said. A short time later, police received a call from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus saying two people had been dropped off with injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Adrian Sanchez-Jimenez, 23, of Pleasantville, was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, after an investigation by Officer Joseph Bereheiko. Both occupants were being treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
