Two charged after shots fired in Pleasantville

  • News
Pleasantville police arrested two men after shots were fired early Sunday morning. Officers heard the gunshots at 3:19 a.m., and Officer Astrid Aurelius stopped a vehicle in the area of Martin Luther King and Main Street, just about a block from the police station, Capt. Matt Hartman said. A firearm was found inside the vehicle. And the driver was allegedly under the influence. Driver Mikal Galloway, of Galloway Township, was charged with driving while intoxicated. The passenger, Johnathan Cross of Absecon, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. Galloway was released under John's Law, which requires an allegedly drunken driver to have a ride home and can impound the car for as long as 12 hours. Cross was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
