Atlantic City event looks to keep less fortunate warm

  • News
Pleasantville friends James Pressley and Jason Smart-El had such success feeding the homeless last month, now they're looking to help dress them. The pair will be giving hats, scarves and gloves to those at Atlantic City's Turning Point Day Center from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The originally planned time had to be moved due to a death in one the men's families. As the temperature is dropping, Pressley and Smart-El want to make sure those without have things to keep them warm. "We don’t do what we do for fame or other selfish motives," Pressley said. "We do this because we both have had our personal experience with 'real life' struggles. We know where we come from and will never forget." Last month, they fed 325 people at Turning Point, a new building to help the homeless and less fortunate that was opened by the Rev. Collin Days. They gave out food, personal hygiene products and some hope to those who came during the two-hour event. “All the thanks and hugs received from the people we served will forever be remembered,” Smart-El said at the time. Anyone who wants to help donate clothing for Saturday's event is asked to do so by Friday. Email Smart-El at uniquelyrareclothing@gmail.com
