Two men are behind bars for allegedly working to distract a woman while shopping so they could steal her wallet.
The 79-year-old victim was at the HomeGoods store at the Festival Mall in Hamilton Township on Sept. 15, when the theft happened, police said.
Edward King helped the woman with her shopping cart while Vincent Saxon came up from behind and took her wallet from her purse, according to an investigation by Hamilton Township police detectives.
The men then charged $1,297 on her credit cards.
The men have a combined 66 felony convictions between them for similar crimes, police said.
King, 59, of Atlantic City, is currently an inmate at Bayside State Prison where he has been since Oct. 23, serving a sentence that includes five counts of theft, according to his state Department of Corrections page.
Saxon, 50, of Egg Harbor Township, was arrested Tuesday morning. He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
