Former Pleasantville Housing Authority manager gets probation in theft

  • News

A former Pleasantville Housing Authority manager was sentenced to probation Friday for stealing $826 meant for Atlantic City tenants — and a $9.39 toilet seat.

Cheryl Bradshaw, 60, admitted in June that she cashed 13 checks from U.S. Housing and Urban Development meant to offset tenants' utility costs.

Bradshaw was arrested April 19, by detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Official Corruption Unit.

Under the plea agreement, Superior Court Judge Patricia Wild sentenced Bradshaw to three years' probation.

Bradshaw, who lives in Atlantic City, also must permanently forfeit public employment and pay restitution of $740 to eight victims of the Barlinvis Apartments.

The state also alleged Bradshaw stole property of the Atlantic County Improvement Authority — a toilet seat valued at $9.39 — and had the seat installed in her own residence.

She was fired Feb. 2.

Bradshaw had one criminal prior, an arrest in 1990 for drug distribution in a school zone. She did three weeks in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
