A pedestrian was struck and killed early Sunday morning in Egg Harbor Township, police said Tuesday.
Israel Torres, 29, of Ventnor, was driving his Jeep east on the Black Horse Pike in front of the Wingate Hotel at about 12:40 a.m., when he saw a pedestrian in the roadway, police said.
Torres tried to swerve, but still struck David Byrnes, 51, of Brick, according to the report.
Bynes suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The eastbound lanes of the pike were shut down for about three hours.
The crash is being investigated by Officers Robert Moran, Patrick Daly and Joseph Griffiths.
No summonses have been issued at this time.
