Police tow lot manager charged with stealing $80,000 in fees

  • News
A former civilian tow lot manager for the Atlantic City Police Department was allegedly towing away more than vehicles. Dennis Bell Sr., who now lives in Laurel, Maryland, stole $80,000 in tow lot fees over a two-year period, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. The city’s Office of Revenue and Finance noticed discrepancies in tow lot finances, and reported it to the police, Tyner said. A four-month investigation by detectives from Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Official Corruption Unit and Atlantic City Police Department traced the money to Bell. Bell had worked for the city since 2000. Bell had been suspended without pay and submitted a letter of resignation to the city Thursday. Bell was released on a summons.
