A veteran Atlantic County corrections officer was charged with driving under the influence after a Galloway Township crash sent another man to the hospital.
Kyle Francis, 32, of Galloway Township, was headed north on South New York Avenue at about 5:15 p.m. Monday, when he passed several vehicles in a no-passing zone, police said.
His Chevy Equinox then struck the driver’s side of a Nissan Sentra as the driver tried to turn left onto Biscayne Avenue, according to the report.
The other driver, Michael Cramer, 49, of Galloway, was injured and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Mainland Campus.
His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The road was closed to a single lane with alternating traffic for about an hour.
Francis was additionally charged with reckless driving and improper passing. Other charges are pending further investigation by Patrolmen Cody Trout and Kenneth Snuffer.
Francis has been a corrections officer in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since 2007, county spokeswoman Linda Gilmore said.
She said she could not comment further, including whether the charges would affect Francis' employment.
