Atlantic City woman dead in apparent homicide

An Atlantic City woman was found dead in an apparent homicide, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner announced. Vernell Vance, 56, was found with significant blunt-force trauma to her head at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday behind 21 S. Tennessee Ave. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Tyner said. This is a joint investigation between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department and is continuing. She is the second woman to be killed in the city in less than a week. Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes at 609-909-7666 or Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766.
