  • News

Two New York women were arrested after they allegedly fled a hit-and-run, and then assaulted the other driver and crashed his car when he followed after them. Veda Nolasco, 31, of the Bronx, and a 35-year-old Atlantic City man were in a collision at Rhode Island and Pacific avenues at about 1:40 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said. After Nolasco struck the resident’s vehicle, she sped off, according to the report. The man, who had his 1-year-old child riding with him, followed Nolasco’s car and called 911. At Rhode Island and Atlantic avenues, Nolasco and her passenger, 29-year-old Tiffany Williams also of the Bronx, exited the vehicle and pulled the man from his car, assaulting him while was on the ground, Fair said. Nolasco then got into the man’s vehicle and intentionally crashed it into a telephone pole before getting back into her car and driving away, according to the report. Officer Valmir Loga broadcast the vehicle description. The empty vehicle was found by Officers Christian Ivanov and Daniel Arra on the beach block of New Jersey Avenue. A short time later, Showboat Atlantic City security personnel located found the two women inside their property, Fair said. They were detained until officers arrived to take them into custody. The victim and his child were evaluated on scene by medical personnel and released. Both women were charged with robbery, conspiracy, theft, endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault. Nolasco was also given numerous motor vehicle summonses. Both were taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
