An Atlantic County sheriff’s officer is in jail after he allegedly sent threatening messages to a woman while driving around drunk and with two guns in his trunk.
“And I’m arrested I will (expletive) murder you,” Daniel Ginsburg wrote to the woman, according to a criminal complaint obtained by BreakingAC through a public records request.
BreakingAC is not naming the woman due to the domestic nature of the crime.
“Going to get the guns now,” Ginsburg allegedly texted Saturday, before driving around Galloway Township looking for the woman.
In Ginsburg’s trunk were two Glock semi-automatic handguns, the complaint alleges.
The incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, which is not detailed in the complaint.
But it appears Ginsburg jumped onto the hood of the woman’s car as she tried to leave, according to information in the complaint.
He then harassed her by “continually calling the victim’s cell phone throughout the day and continually texing the victim’s cell phone throughout the day,” the report states.
Ginsburg, 44, who lives in Galloway Township, has been a sheriff’s officer a little more than two years, and is suspended without pay.
Sheriff Eric Scheffler confirmed the officer’s arrest by Galloway Township police Saturday morning.
“It’s an ongoing criminal investigation currently being handled by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office,” he said. “I have absolute full confidence the investigation will be handled properly.”
Ginsburg is charged with five counts, including making terroristic threats, simple assault, weapons possession and harassment. He is being held pending a detention hearing.
