Multiple gunshots overnight in Atlantic City

Atlantic City police investigating a shooting the struck a vehicle in the 900 block of Sewell Avenue.

Gunfire erupted twice overnight in Atlantic City. A vehicle was struck in the 900 block of Sewell Avenue at about 10:40 p.m., police said. An alert from the city’s audio gunshot notification system ShotSpotter alerted police. Evidence of gunfire was found, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Another ShotSpotter alert came in at 12:56 a.m. in the 1300 block of Caspian Avenue, Fair said. It counted more than a dozen shots. There were no reports of injuries in either shooting. Detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 609-347-5766 or Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
