An Atlantic City councilman has been charged with domestic assault.
Jeffree Fauntleroy II, 33, assaulted the woman inside his home Sunday, Sgt. Kevin Fair said she told police Monday.
The victim did have any signs of injury, but did not seek medical attention, Fair said.
While police did not identify the pair’s relationship, Fauntleroy confirmed that the person who made the report was his wife of seven years.
“I love my wife with all my heart,” he told BreakingAC. “Domestic violence is a very serious thing. I have three daughters. I don’t even want to be part of that narrative.”
He confirmed that the pair argued Sunday, and that she went to her mother’s, where she remains.
"Yes, we had an argument," he said. "That’s it. That’s all."
Fauntleroy said he is in the home with his children. The couple have three children together.
He is charged with domestic violence simple assault. Fauntleroy said he has not yet received a summons with the charge.
