Four arrested after fight leads to assault, gunshot in Atlantic City

  • News
Officers were called to Morris and Pacific avenues at 9:17 p.m. and found a 31-year-old resident injured, according to the report. The man told police he got in a fight with Jaquise White, and that then Aundrique Scott and Dante Miller got involved and started punching and kicking the victim, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. At one point, Scott took a handgun from near his ankle and shot at the victim’s head one time, missing him, according to the report. The three men immediately walked away, leaving the victim lying on the pavement. But Scott then came back and continued to assault the man, Fair said. The suspects fled before officers got there. The victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus with non-life threatening injuries. Officers Eric Evans and Garry Stowe identified Scott while reviewing surveillance footage, and that led them to a home in the 1000 block of Ohio Avenue, Fair said. When the occupants refused to exit, the SWAT team and crisis negotiators came in and the suspects eventually surrendered, Fair said. The investigation was led by Detective John Sharkey.
