An Atlantic City man who admitted to sexually assaulting four children younger than 10 was sentenced to 17 years in prison Friday.
Adan Otero, 27, was deemed a "repetitive and compulsive" offender in an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel found, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
Avenel is a correctional facility that deals with sex offenders.
He must serve at least 85 percent of his term under the No Early Release Act. He also could face possible civil commitment upon his release, Tyner said.
Otero pleaded guilty in February to four counts of aggravated sexual assault, admitting he sexually assaulted the juveniles over a period of several months in various locations in Atlantic City. Three of the victims were siblings.
He also pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child in connection to a fifth victim.
Otero has been at the Atlantic County Justice Facility since his arrest, after he was held following a detention hearing. He will have to register as a Megan's Law offender.
