The Pleasantville principal accused of child pornography has been moved to a different jail.
Edward James Bonek, 49, was moved to the Cape May County Jail on Aug. 15.
Bonek had been in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since Aug. 8, following a search of his Absecon home. He allegedly was found to have more than 1,000 images and/or videos of child sexual assault.
The now-suspended Pleasantville High School principal was ordered detained Aug. 14, after Superior Court Judge Benjamin Podolnik said he was a “danger to the community.”
The next day, he was transferred.

Bonek’s attorney, John Zarych, said he did not know why his client was transferred.
“Edward Bonek has the confidence and sense of peace of an innocent man,” Zarych said. “He’ll maintain that confidence and sense of peace wherever he is sent, including Cape May County Jail.”
More than two dozen family, friends and co-workers attended Bonek’s detention hearing in support, filling the courtroom.
Zarych is appealing the detention to the Appellate Division in Trenton. Those appeals are handed on an emergent basis but are not instantaneous, he said.
“We still need to await transcripts of the hearing and the Appellate Division then establishes a briefing schedule,” he said. “And we look forward to his release following that decision.”
Representatives for the Atlantic County jail have confirmed the move, but would not comment further.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office had no reason for why Bonek was transferred.
