Loitering call leads to arrest of Atlantic City man with gun and drugs

An Atlantic City man was arrested with a gun and drugs after police responded to a loitering complaint Friday night.
Officers were called to the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue at 11:36 p.m., and found a group of men congregating on an apartment stairwell’s steps, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
The officers tried to determine if the men lived in the apartment complex.
Khalil Tate was rolling a marijuana blunt as Officer Eric Evans started to talk to him, according to the report. Tate was arrested without incident and found in possession of a handgun with 54 bags of heroin, along with marijuana.
Tate, 28, also had an active warrant for his arrest.
The other men, who did not live in the complex, left the area.
Tate was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense.
He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
