A man has been charged with murder in the killing of a model who grew up in Atlantic County.
Jonathan Wesley Harris is charged with murder and other offenses in the fatal beating of Christina Carlin Kraft inside her Lower Merion apartment.
Kraft, a graduate of Mainland Regional High School, was found dead inside her home on Sibley Avenue last Wednesday, after police responded to a call to check on her at about 9:15 p.m.
On Monday, authorities released video and still photos from surveillance cameras that showed the suspect. A concerned citizen contacted Lower Merion police the next day, and identified the man as Harris, District Attorney Kevin Steele said.
An arrest warrant was signed Tuesday night, and Harris was arrested in Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon, as he tried to flee the area, Steele said.
The investigation found that Kraft left her apartment early Aug. 22, and took a Lyft to the 1400 block of Chestnut Street.
There, investigators found video showing Kraft meeting Harris near South Broad and 13 streets.
A short time later, the two appear to get into a vehicle. Shortly after 3 a.m., Kraft and Harris entered her apartment building.
The front door to the apartment opened at 3:08 a.m. and the back door leading to a terrace was closed at 5:19 a.m., according to records.
During the two hours in between, Kraft was beaten, her nose was broken and she was strangled, Steele said.
The defendant will be brought back to Montgomery County to face the charges.
