Lieutenant governor focusing on the positive in Atlantic City

  • News
The negative spotlight brought on Atlantic City’s mayor doesn’t erase the recent wins for the resort, Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver said in a podcast. “Despite all of the things that have gotten us all upset in terms of, ‘Oh, is this another issue of a taint on our administration,’ we’re staying focused on the good things,” Oliver
told ROI-NJ’s Anjalee Khemlani on Thursday’s podcast. https://soundcloud.com/roi-nj/roi-podcast-e11-lg-sheila-oliver Oliver talks about health issues, building more housing, developing resident civic leadership and a supermarket, that has gotten the attention of national interests. She even has reached out to state Secretary of Agriculture Douglas Fisher, who has 30 years of experienced as a supermarket owner and operator. “Of course I’m keeping an eye on all of the issues that have creeped up with the mayor,” the lieutenant governor told Khemlani. “He’s got some legal things that he’s going to be confronted with and everyone in the state knows that federal agents have come to his home. We are definitely keeping an eye on that. “But,” added Oliver, who is in charge of the city’s oversight, “we have invested so much labor-intensive work in Atlantic City that we’re not going to take our eyes off the prize.” The city’s third meeting of the Atlantic City Executive Council is set for Tuesday.
