A Mays Landing man was convicted of murder Monday in the 2012 killing of a former friend.
Joshua Cross, now 31, is the first of four men accused in the killing to go on trial.
The group was trying to replenish its cache of guns lost during three arrests, Assistant Prosecutor Allison Eiselen told the jurors.
When Sedrick Lindo refused to give his gun to the cause, his former friends plotted a robbery that resulted in his death, Eiselen said.
The attack on a porch in Atlantic City's Carver Hall as Lindo spoke with a female friend also injured the woman's 3-year-old, who was wounded by a ricochet.
The alleged conspirators, who met for breakfast that morning, shared another meal “after the bloodshed and death of their former friend,” Eiselen told the jury.
Cross acted as lookout, notifying alleged shooter Mujahid Blackwell, who was 16 at the time.

Cross later would deny being at the scene, but eventually told investigators he was afraid of Blackwell.
Blackwell and his cousin, Khalil Blackwell — also awaiting trial in the case — were the ones who lost the guns after an Atlantic City officer saw Khalil smoking pot on the a stoop and then came across the guns inside the home.
In addition to murder, Cross was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault by pointing a firearm.
He is scheduled for Jan. 11 before Superior Court Judge Patricia Wild.
