An Egg Harbor Township couple has been charged with animal cruelty in the starvation death of a 2-year-old pit bull.
Police were called to a home on the 300 block of Booker Avenue on Sunday for complaints of a dog tied up outside, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
They found “Gucci” tied to a shed dead, according to the report.
The cause of death was found to be starvation and malnourishment.
The dog had started to eat toxic mulch because she had no food.
Trent Brewer, 22, was arrested at the residence Thursday without incident, Tyner said.
Oniesha Noble, 23, was told to turn herself in, and did. She was processed and released.
Brewer was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Egg Harbor Township police led the investigation with help from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
If anyone has any information that would contribute to this investigation, they are asked to call Egg Harbor detectives at 609-927-5200.
Tyner also advised the public to report any animal abuse, negligence or cruelty to the police department in that area.
