Fire hits two businesses in Egg Harbor Township

  • News

An overnight fire temporarily closed at least two businesses in Egg Harbor Township.
The fire at Harbor Village began in a tanning bed at Velocity Tanning, fire officials said.
Firefighters were called at 11:36 p.m. to the store in the strip mall at Ocean Heights Avenue and Zion Road.
The Bargaintown and Scullville fire companies responded, with one engine from Cardiff giving additional manpower, officials said.
Pete's Subs & Deli next door also suffered some damage.
"Thankfully no one was injured and (because of) the amazing response from our local fire departments, the situation was contained," Pete's wrote in a Facebook post. "Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us, we appreciate the concern. "
The store will close for clean up and to be cleared by the health inspector, they said.
Velocity said it was not sure about when it would reopen.
"Our first priority was to get the fire out so our surrounding stores would be OK," they told BreakingAC. "We will be investigating today and the next few days."
The fire was under control by 1:15 a.m.
