Funeral service set for Mizpah firefighter killed in crash

  • News

Firefighters are setting up for a sad farewell to a beloved member of the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company.

Natalie Dempsey, 21, will be honored Sunday, with a service from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Absegami High School.

"We are sending our girl off loud and proud," her company said in a Facebook post, inviting all firefighters and apparatus.

Known to her company as their "Baby Girl," Dempsey was killed in a crash in Hamilton Township, on her way to a fire call Christmas morning.

The Mays Landing woman was with the fire company for three years, and served as vice president. Her dream was to be a police officer.

Any fire apparatus coming to the services is asked to meet at the Mizpah station no later than 11:30 a.m. to drive to the high school as one.

A final call announcing the services was made over the radio Thursday.
