An Atlantic City man charged in the shooting of a 19-year-old last month was ordered detained this week.
Azaiah Grisom, also 19, was arrested Jan. 25, in connection to a Dec. 5 shooting in Atlantic City.
The shooting was one in a series of gang-related retaliatory shootings, according to information released in court.
Grisom is charged with serious bodily injury aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Waldman agreed with the state that he should be held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility until the case is resolved.
The case is a High Risk of Violence case that was investigated and charged by the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, and assigned to the Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit for continued investigation and trial, Tyner said
