Galloway man charged with attempted aggravated arson at police department

  • News
A Galloway Township man has been charged after he allegedly tried to throw a lit accelerant into the township Police Department. Sean Shearer is the man seen on a video captured Dec. 12, that shows a man approach the front lobby of the Police Department at 6:34 p.m. After loitering outside the lobby for a brief time, took out a glass bottle containing a petroleum-based accelerant, attempted to light it and threw it on the concrete in front of the entrance doors. The bottle did not catch fire, but shattered and splashed the accelerant all over the doors, floor mats and lobby entrance, police said. There was an officer and a resident in the lobby at the time who could have been in life-threatening danger if the attempt had been successful, police said. The suspect ran and was not caught at the time. Police released video of the incident at the time, in hopes someone could help identify him. breakingac.com/galloway-township-police-seek-suspect-in-attempted-arson

He is charged with two counts of attempted aggravated arson and criminal mischief. Galloway Township Detective Bryan Casey led the investigation.
