Five people, including a 16-year-old, were arrested after multiple shots were fired inside a building down the street from the Atlantic City police station Tuesday.
Officers also seized more than 2,500 bags of heroin, 10 grams of cocaine and a handgun, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Police were called to 3 S. Iowa Ave. at about 4:45 p.m., for reports of gunfire, according to the report.
Shell casings and blood were seen on the second and third floors, an officer tells dispatch in radio transmissions.
No victims were found.
In one apartment, which police did not specify, three people were arrested after detectives found a loaded handgun and 100 bags of heroin.
The handgun was found outside Apartment 4, according to radio transmissions.
A resident, who asked not to be identified, said police had to force down the door of a third-floor apartment, because the people inside would not respond.
Primitivio Garcia, 56, and Dionisio Torres, 21, were charged with drug and weapons offenses and taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The teen was also charged and taken to Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.
The investigation led detectives to a room at the Econo Lodge Beach and Boardwalk in the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue, Fair said.
There, detectives found 2,450 bags of heroin, 10 grams of cocaine and drug-packaging materials, according to the report.
Jonathan Lopez, 27, and Kkyree Dunkerson, 24, were charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute, and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia.
They were released on summonses.
