Marlton man allegedly had 30 guns, with makings for more

  • News

Thirty guns were seized after a Marlton man was arrested in a distribution of firearms investigation.

Gregory Carleton, 56, was arrested in Hammonton last week as part of a multiple agency investigation that included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Hammonton Police Department, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner announced Monday.

His office’s Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit led the investigation.

Carleton’s home was searched, where investigators found 23 handguns and five rifles/shotguns. Two handguns were found in his vehicle.

They also found equipment, devices, tools and mechanisms that included undocumented handgun and rifle uppers and lowers, frames, bolts and receivers, which Carleton was using to make complete and operable firearms, Tyner said.

The investigation found Carleton was allegedly making “ghost guns,” which are guns made without serial numbers.

He is charged with, four counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun without a permit, three counts of unlawful manufacture of a gun or other weapon and one count of fourth-degree unlawful sale of a gun or other weapon.
