Teen drowns at Weymouth park

A teenager drowned Tuesday in the water at Weymouth Furnace in Hamilton Township, police said. Police were called to the Atlantic County Park on Weymouth Road for a possible drowning at about 4:30 p.m., police said Wednesday. A 14-year-old boy from out of state was at the park for a family picnic when he went into the water and didn't resurface, police were told. Members of the Township of Hamilton Dive Team and the Richland Fire Department Surface Rescue Team searched for the boy. After an extensive search, he was found and pronounced dead at the scene. Atlantic County Emergency Management, Atlantic County Park Rangers, the Weymouth and Mays Landing fire departments, Township of Hamilton Rescue and AtlantiCare Paramedics assisted at the scene.
