Two men were arrested burglarizing cars in Margate this week, police said.
Police were called to the 500 block of Jerome Avenue at about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday for several reports of two men burglarizing parked cars, police said.
One report said someone was trying to chase one of the suspects.
Ventnor police were contacted for K-9 assistance, and Sgt. David Gaeckle responded with his partner, Axel, according to the report.
Gaeckle and Axel tracked the suspects who were hiding in separate locations.
They were in possession of several items from the burglaries, police said.
The person who gave chase was assaulted by one of the suspects, police said, although they didn't indicate which one.
The victim as treated at a local hospital and released, according to the report.
Anthony Ivens, 25, of Ventnor, and Brian Cottingham, 26, of Bridgeton, were each charged with burglary, conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, theft and obstruction.
They were taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Ivens has previous burglary and trespassing convictions from 2014, according to court records.
