A Philadelphia man was sentenced to eight years in prison Friday for a crash on the Atlantic City Expressway that killed his passenger. Rashad Caswell pleaded guilty in April to aggravated manslaughter in the Feb. 28, 2015, crash. New Jersey State Police arrived at the scene just after 10 p.m. and found a car crashed into a tree at the end of a steep embankment on the eastbound side of the expressway near milepost 7.5.2018. Cierra Goodman, 27, of Sharon Hill, Pa., had to be extracted from the vehicle and first-responders attempted to resuscitate her. Goodman, who was the registered owner of the vehicle, was later pronounced dead at the scene. Caswell was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment. A joint investigation by the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office led to charges against Caswell, who did not have a valid driver's license.
