An Atlantic City man was arrested Saturday after police allegedly found a loaded shotgun during a motor vehicle stop> David Preston, 43, was stopped by Officers Alberto Valles and Christopher Dodson at 12:45 a.m. in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Mediterranean Avenue, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. Preston immediately got out of his vehicle and started yelling at the officers before they approached, according to the report. Preston ignored multiple orders to get back inside the car. As the officers started to speak with him, they could smell raw, unburnt marijuana coming from Preston and inside the vehicle. They searched Preston's vehicle and found a loaded shotgun, additional shotgun shells, marijuana and bags used to package marijuana, Fair said. As he was placed into custody, the officers found Preston has more marijuana and a digital scale, Fair said. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent within a school zone, possession with the intent within 500 feet of a public zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, certain person not to possess a weapon and possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense, along with numerous motor vehicle summons. Preston was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
