  • News
An Egg Harbor City man was injured when it overturned after striking guardrail, Galloway Township police said. Melvin Taylor, 58, was heading east on Duerer Street just past Berlin Avenue when his Ford Ranger left the road and struck a guardrail at about 8 p.m., according to the report. The Ranger ended up on its roof in the middle of Duerer Street. Taylor, who was not wearing his seatbelt, had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the Egg Harbor City and Germania fire companies. Taylor was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus by the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. He is charged with driving under the influence along with motor vehicle summonses. Duerer was closed for about an hour between Berlin and Frankfurt avenues. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Officer R. Gorneau at 609-652-3705, ext. 5095.
