Atlantic City man, 23, charged in third shooting in four years

An Atlantic City man already jailed in a shooting and an armed robbery with an assault now faces charges in another shooting. Adalberto Tobi, 23, is charged in a July 22 shooting that wounded 22-year-old Orion Austin. Austin was found wounded in the 700 block of Arctic Avenue at 10:21 p.m. A nine-month investigation by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit resulted in Tobi being served charges in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he is currently housed on his other charges.

Tobi is now charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Tobi was the victim of a shooting Sept. 25, 2016, during a shootout. The next month he wound up charged in a shootout he allegedly had with his alleged shooter's brother. His criminal history dates back until he was 19, when he was accused of wounding two men in a 2014 shooting. He was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault, along with weapons offenses. He then pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree aggravated assault, and was given a sentence of 18 months of parole ineligibility. He served 547 days in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
