An Egg Harbor City man has been charged as the leader of a child pornography network.
It is the first time the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has used the new charge.
Joseph McCormick, 49, was arrested Friday members of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force, after they searched his home three days earlier, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. During the search several laptops and computers were removed and later checked for evidence of child pornography, his browser history only showed that he had visited legal adult porn sites however, after a deeper search into his hidden files and those he had tried to delete child pornography images and videos were found.
He is additionally charged with distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography, hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence.
The investigation was a partnership between the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office High Technology Crimes Unit.
