Driver dies after losing consciousness and crashing into Lower Township house

  • News

A 72-year-old driver died after she lost consciousness and crashed into a house Friday, Lower Township police said.
Carol A. Adams was traveling south on Seashore Road when she lost consciousness at the intersection of Breakwater Road, causing her vehicle to veer across the yellow line, up onto a curb, through a fence and into the home at 555 Seashore Road, according to the report.
A 91-year-old male passenger was able to get out of the vehicle and was not injured, police said.
The Lower Township Rescue Squad pulled Adams from the vehicle and immediately began giving her CPR.
She was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation by Lower Township police and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
