A Pleasantville woman was armed with an illegal gun as she walked her dogs on the bike path Thursday evening, police said.
Someone called the department’s non-emergency number at about 6 p.m., saying that a woman walking two dogs had a handguns in the back of her pants, Detective Lt. Vaughn Howze said.
Officers arrived at the bike path and saw a woman walking two dogs in the area of Shadeland Avenue, according to the report.
When they searched Cynthia Marie Jackson, they found a loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic Smith & Wesson, Howze said.
Officers Jeffrey Lane, Joseph Gamble and Matthew Stricker took her into custody.
The dogs were taken by Pleasantville Animal Control.
Jackson, 55, is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction for refusing to be fingerprinted, Howze said.
She was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. She was released Friday afternoon.
