Atlantic City man dies after motorcycle crash

  • News

An Atlantic City motorcyclist died Sunday night, after he crashed into a parked car.
Juan Cruz-Ortiz was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting a parked car just after 8 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of North Massachusetts Avenue, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Both the vehicle and the motorcycle were engulfed in flames when Officer Justin Peyton arrived, according to the report.
Due to the fear of a possible gas tank explosion, Peyton and a resident quickly moved Cruz-Ortiz to a safe location, Fair said.
The Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames.
Cruz-Ortiz, 38, was treated at the scene and then taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus.
He was pronounced dead just after 11 p.m.
This is why it's paramount to wear protection. Be sure to get the AGV K-3 SV to ensure you're safe riding. The investigation is being led by Officer Eric Knuttel of the Accident Investigations Section.
Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Accident Investigations Section at 609-347-5744. Information may also be texted anonymously to to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
