Five companies battle fire at vacant Atlantic City home

  • News
Five fire companies battled a house fire in Atlantic City early Sunday morning. Firefighters were called to 126 Bay St. across from Atlantic Cape Community College's city campus after midnight for a house fire. They arrived to find heavy on the second floor of the vacant home, Fire Chief Scott Evans said. Firefighters were able to get it under control in about 45 minutes. One firefighter was taken to the hospital, but was released quickly, Evans said. Engines 1, 2 and 3, Rescue 1 and Ladder 1 responded. The fire is being investigated as suspicious, Evans said. There were no utilities hooked up in the building.
