Last of four Harborfields escapees now charged as an adult

  • News

The last of four teens who escaped juvenile detention last year has been waived up to be tried as an adult.
Donovan Nickerson, 17, of Atlantic City, was ordered held pending trial this week.
Nickerson’s three co-defendants were previously indicted as adults. But his waiver had not yet happened.
After a detention hearing, he will remain in a juvenile facility as his case goes through the court system.

On Nov. 15, Nickerson, Michael Huggins, Raymir Lampkin and Stephine Woodley allegedly overpowered a officer and fled the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.
They then fled in another worker’s car, which they crashed as the fled police, according to the charges. A rifle was then stolen from a nearby home.
That’s when Huggins — who already had been waived up on a murder charge — separated from the others.
Woodley, Lampkin and Nickerson were arrested in Bridgeton that day.
Huggins, who is from Bridgeton, was found in Atlantic City later, allegedly armed with a gun.
Because Huggins was 18 at the time of the escape, he was ordered held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he remains.
Nickerson — like Lampkin and Woodley — will be held in a juvenile facility despite being tried as an adult due to his age. Under the current rules, juveniles who are waived up to adult court will remain held in juvenile facilities while their case goes through the system, unless a motion is granted to move them to jail.
No such motions have been filed in these cases.
Nickerson, who is known as DBlock, is allegedly a member of Fetti G, a gang based in Atlantic City’s Stanley Holmes Village. Lampkin is also associated with that gang, retired Atlantic City Detective Lonell Jones told BreakingAC.
Jones worked much of his career as a gangs expert.
