The breach involved two fraudulent wire transfers of $200,000 each, Superintendent Annette Giaquinto told BreakingAC.
One has already been recovered "due to the swift action of the district and the assistance of the bank," Giaquinto said. "We are in the process of making efforts to recover the remaining balance."
Those affected seem to be the approximately 800 district employees, including substitute teachers, the superintendent said.
The district first learned of an issue Sept. 27.
The district immediately got outside legal and cybersecurity forensics experts to conduct a thorough investigation, and law enforcement was notified as well, the superintendent said. This isn't the first case of a malicious cyberattack on a school network, look into

Emails were also sent to parents to keep them updated on the situation.
“Additionally, we shut down access to all software programs and school portals to contain the malicious activity,” according to the email to parents. “This included temporarily suspending access to the Parent Portal as well as the Rev Trak and PayPams systems.”
The breach is not believed to have impacted information of students or their parents.
“A comprehensive investigation into the incident is ongoing, and we are providing updates to those affected as they become available,” Giaquinto said.
