Councilman hit casino worker, while mayor swung and missed, summonses claim

  • News

Atlantic City’s mayor allegedly threatened a woman and threw punches at two men during an altercation earlier this month that began inside the Haven Nightclub.
Mayor Frank Gilliam and Councilman Jeffree Fauntleroy were issued summonses for simple assault and harassment after a fight outside the Golden Nugget on Nov. 11.
Both men originally said that nothing happened at the club, but then said it was only an argument and nothing physical.
But video from outside the casino that houses the nightclub shows Fauntleroy throw a man to the ground while the mayor appears to trade punches with another man.
None of those punches landed, according to complaints by the two men, casino employees Greg Aulicino and Joseph Camarota.
Both said Gilliam swung his fist at them and swung to punch, but missed. Camarota also accused him of chasing him around a car.
Julie Rodriguez claimed both men made threats to harm her, including saying “I’ll f--- you up.”
There are no allegations that he struck a woman, despite claims by some media that he did.
The men are due in court on the charges Dec. 3.
Fauntleroy says that he has not yet received the summonses. Gilliam did not return calls seeking comment.
