An Atlantic City Class II officer will go to trial in Pleasantville Municipal Court on allegations that he chased a man in a vehicle and threatened to kill him.
Alim Adams, 22, was in court Monday, after the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office sent the charges back to the lower court as a disorderly persons offense, Judge Richard Fauntleroy explained to the two men.
Adams is
accused of threatening to kill the man and following him at a high rate of speed to the Pleasantville Police Department on July 20. The victim's name is not being released since he is an alleged victim of domestic violence.
Since the incident, Adams has filed a counter claim of harassment. The details of that were not read in court.
Adams, who was in uniform during his court appearance Monday, declined to comment.
According to a copy of the charges obtained by BreakingAC, the harassment claim stems from the alleged victim "alleging the complainant (Adams) is homosexual to common associates of complainant and accused."
That case will be heard at the same time, although a date has not yet been set.
