An Atlantic City man who threatened to kill people and then barricaded himself inside his apartment Wednesday is now charged with making terroristic threats. Brian Harris, 57, is free on a summons. Police were called to The Ocean at 101 Boardwalk just before 3 p.m. Wednesday for a man who threatened to kill a property employee, Sgt. Kevin Fair said. When Officer James Miltenberger arrived to try to talk to Harris, the man yelled through his apartment door that he would shoot the officer and anyone else who came through the door. Members of the department’s Emergency Response Team responded, and a crisis negotiator attempted to speak with Harris for about an hour, Fair said. Officers were in the hallway outside the apartment when they smelled something burning inside. Worried that Harris had set fire to his apartment, officers entered and arrested Harris without incident, according to the report. The smell was coming from a pot that was left burning. Harris was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for evaluation.
